Fossil-based resources like crude oil are important sources of raw materials for numerous everyday uses. In the adhesive manufacturing industry too, for a long time it was impossible to imagine working without these materials. But using fossil-based raw materials is not a sustainable long-term solution, which has been fuelling scientists’ search for alternatives for years. For example, wood chips, solar power and biogas are becoming more popular for heating homes or fuelling vehicles. At Jowat, we increasingly rely on renewable raw materials for selected adhesive formulations. We are curating a new generation of hot melt adhesives, under the name Jowatherm® GROW and Jowatherm-Reaktant® GROW. From the selection of raw materials used, to their application, these hot melt adhesives are designed to protect valuable resources while offering the quality you expect from Jowat.
The proportion of these materials is particularly high in the GROW line. Depending on the formulation, an adhesive contains between 20 % and 50 % made from renewable raw materials. Rarely have Jowat adhesives of this quality contained these percentages of bio-based materials. Adhesives from the GROW line are therefore a particularly attractive choice for companies who are trying to significantly reduce the use of fossil-based raw materials.
