An adhesive change can be a considerable effort, for example due to necessary tests in advance, testing on your own machines or due to certain requirements when changing to other adhesive systems. Bonding process analyses
Hardly any other industry is exposed to such high dynamics as the food and consumer goods industry. Adhesive applications must face a frequent change of substrates, formats and finishes of packaging, which still work properly. That's why Jowat's adhesive change process starts with a deep understanding of the application. An exact analysis of the already implemented or planned future adhesive processes, the substrates used and plant technology are in the focus. In preliminary discussions, the individual core requirements of the users are determined, at which later qualification tests of the adhesives are aligned. This is followed by intensive consultation on the entire process sequence of an adhesive conversion or introduction. Qualification tests
Once the processes and core requirements of the users have been analyzed, individual qualification tests are developed. Food safety is of particular importance to Jowat, and Jowat, for example, also provides results from MOSH / MOAH testing - mineral oil migration testing - and NIAS analyzes - inadvertently introduced substances - for its products to users in the field of food safety To support compliance work. The adhesive manufacturer also competently answers individual questions through a corresponding specialist department. If none of the adhesives meets the individual requirements in the broad Jowat portfolio, adhesives can be developed together with users and partner companies. Test runs
After the tests have shown that a Jowat product offers the desired optimization potential, tests can then be started in the user's production environment. Here, the adhesive manufacturer has the opportunity to carry out these test runs quickly and without major production interruptions. For example, when changing adhesives from other systems, such as EVA-based hot melt adhesives, to PO systems, Jowat supplies pre-melters to minimize machine downtime, making the conversion process more efficient. If the test runs are working optimally, the adhesive can be continued immediately after the test run and all systems can be gradually changed over. Quality control
Particularly in the case of the frequent change of substrates and formats typical for the food industry, changes in the desired adhesive quality can quickly occur. A re-examination of the bonding processes and conditions, from the equipment to the adhesive, is therefore very important in order to identify and correct the actual causes of insufficient or faulty bonding. Again, Jowat provides assistance through production process controls and accurate error analysis. Here, customer-specific questions are specifically reviewed. Often the cause is quickly found because the material of a newly used substrate has different adhesive properties than the previous one. However, the adhesives used are also analyzed again in order to rule out a possible source of error.
