New adhesive system for wrapping window profiles - RAL-GZ certified bonding system just recently tested by SKZ consisting of a PUR hot melt adhesive and a primer free of hazard labelling.

Detmold.- Fast downline processing, high resistance to hydrolysis, and sustainability: Jowat has placed a new adhesive system on the market – a powerful PUR hot melt adhesive certified according to RAL-GZ 716 was tested successfully by the SKZ (Süddeutsches Kunststoff-Zentrum) in combination with a new primer free of hazard labelling requirements. The primer does not contain NEP (N-ethyl pyrrolidone) and is characterised by a clearly reduced content of VOC (volatile organic compounds).

This innovative new PUR hot melt of the Jowatherm-Reaktant® product family has already been tested successfully according to the latest RAL-GZ 716 standard which became valid in May 2013. Especially the excellent peel strength value above the required limit by the RAL-GZ of 3 N/mm is one outstanding feature.

Additionally the very fast crosslinking allows down-line processing of the laminated profiles within one day. The greatly enlarged spectrum of adhesion and the exceptional hydrolysis stability are further advantages and are confirmed by the present SKZ certificates.

At the SKZ, this new PUR hot melt adhesive was also tested in combination with the new VOC-reduced Jowat Primer for a variety of foils, with superior positive results. This new primer was developed without NEP, a product subject to hazard labelling restrictions and contained in most standard low-VOC primers on the market for PVC window profiles. This primer is the first in a series of products formulated by Jowat which is completely free of NEP – reflecting our awareness regarding health protection and sustainability.
