Optimum protection against Covid-19 for all employees is the declared aim of the Board of Directors at Jowat SE. To this end, the enterprise has consistently been expanding its remote work capabilities since the onset of the pandemic last year. A testing facility set up at the company’s headquarters in Detmold marks a further major step toward ensuring the safety of employees on the company’s premises.

The safety of the company’s employees is of paramount importance for Jowat, the adhesives manufacturer from Detmold. At the very beginning of the first lockdown, the enterprise therefore not only implemented a hygiene concept, but also expanded the infrastructure necessary for remote work and restructured office spaces. However, not every employee has the possibility to work from home. Some jobs cannot be done remotely, for instance in R&D, in the lab, in production or in the logistics department.

To ensure an optimum protection of employees on site, Jowat has been operating its own coronavirus testing centre since the start of this year, where every employee is given a rapid test each week. All employees from the morning shift to the night shift are being tested – three persons every 15 minutes, from 8.00 am until midnight. In addition, all contractors working on the premises also have to take the rapid test which is offered free of charge. After the test, each participant is given a certificate, which, when negative, is also accepted by most retirement and care homes.

Testing is currently carried out by an external medical service provider. However, Jowat is already qualifying members of its own staff to be able to carry out tests independently in future. Klaus Kullmann, Managing Director at Jowat SE is pleased: “With this testing centre, we want to meet our responsibility in the containment of the pandemic and provide the highest possible protection for our employees. We do deeply appreciate the great commitment demonstrated by our employees in supporting this effort.”

The intensive activities at the enterprise's own testing centre will be continued at least until the end of January. After that, Jowat will continue to carry out tests as warranted to prevent the spread of the virus within the company as effectively as possible.
