Efficient manufacturing processes The consistent use of modern adhe- sives and corresponding applicati- on technologies allow more efficient production processes, especially in the manufacture of functional textile compounds. In membrane lamination, textiles with hydrophobic impregnation already represent a great challenge before the actual bonding process be- gins. Powerful adhesive systems with excellent adhesion properties are re- quired for these difficult to bond sur- faces. The optimisation of these ma- nufacturing processes is supported by the new, breathable and washing sta- ble PUR hot melts from Jowat. New raw materials – provide opportunities for the next generation of adhesives Based on a new raw material and with a clear focus on current custo- mer requirements, several different departments at Jowat started a well organised initiative. The R&D depart- ment executed a series of in-depth screening tests for suitability, availabi- lity and potential for future product de- velopments. Application Engineering carried out the corresponding bonding trials and performance tests (e.g. peel resistance, water column, washing resistance, etc.), and contacted pilot customers for field trials in collabora- tion with Product Management. Sym- patex Technologies GmbH, a globally leading provider of high-tech functi- onal materials for clothes, shoes, ac- cessories and technical applications, was highly interested in testing the ne- wly developed breathable lamination adhesives with high washing resistan- ce from Jowat. No end in sight Breathability, washing resistance, windproof characteristics, water repel- lence: The requirements for modern, functional clothing textiles will conti- nue to grow and become even more diverse. Innovative adhesive solutions will continue to be the ideal partner for these multifunctional material com- pounds.
