Scheller: For me, agility – or being agile – is “what happens if you let peo- ple do their work.” It is a natural phe- nomenon: When people know why they are doing something and if they have the freedom to decide which things are important and have to be done, when they have the necessary skills and knowledge to do the work and are able to do it in a team, then they will deliver the results that we are trying so hard to achieve in organisations. Editor: What is Agile about? Scheller: The objective of Agile is to increase productivity: “Doing twice the work in half the time!” What matters are not a few percentages – what matters are factors! At the same time, we also provide more innovative and cost-effi- cient products and solutions faster than before. Other positive effects are more motivated employees and a better working environment. Editor: This sounds like the perfect solution! Scheller: It is tough business! It has to “pay off,” as business persons would put it. Agility is economically viable.
