Jowat SE at drupa 2016: „Tuning for Print Products“ – Adhesive solutions for special requirements in the printing industry.

Detmold, March 18, 2016 – At the leading trade fair in the printing industry,   Jowat will present under the motto „Tuning for Print Products” adhesive solutions for special applications: bonding of fanfolds for lay-flat books, foil lamination in print finishing, and UV varnish for Braille application.

Highly demanding applications in the printing industry require innovative adhesive solutions. Jowat adhesives and varnishes are tailored for the corresponding individual requirements and play a major role in ensuring reliable processes and superior products. Dispersion and hot melt adhesives facilitate the manufacture of high-quality books, in particular with lay-flat bindings; a new 1-component dispersion meets the highest demands in the high-end lamination of print sheets; and UV varnishes create visual highlights and protect the surface.

Bookbinding
Adhesives for conventional and lay-flat books

In addition to the comprehensive adhesive portfolio with EVA, PO, and monomer-reduced PUR hot melts for all standard bookbinding applications, Jowat also supplies special dispersion and hot melt adhesives for lay-flat bindings. Perfectly adapted to this application, these Jowat adhesives facilitate the manufacture of highly demanding print products, like photo books or leaflets, that lay completely flat when opened, providing a seamless panoramic two-page spread.

Foil lamination
Finishing and barrier properties for added value

A new, innovative adhesive of the Jowacoll® product family has been developed by Jowat specifically for foil lamination of all sorts of conventionally or digitally printed papers used in the manufacture of premium packaging. The high compound strength facilitated by this 1‑component dispersion ensures optimal downline processing (e.g. grooving, creasing or embossing) without requiring any crosslinking agent.

The latest product versions of Jowacoll® dispersions provide solutions for many other requirements. One example is the reliable full‑surface foil lamination on the inside of boxes with cut-out windows and the simultaneous support of the barrier function.

Coating
UV varnishes for print finishing and Braille application

The modern adhesives are complemented by Jowat UV varnishes to round off the product range for superior print finishing. UV varnishes create special visual highlights, like outstanding glossy or matt effects, while also being extremely scratch-resistant. They are characterised by a homogeneous application pattern, very good processing properties, excellent adhesion to all standard foils as well as to our adhesives, and minimal odour. Jowat PermaCoat® UV varnishes protect the surface of food packaging as well as labels, book covers, and other printed products.

Jowat provides an innovative UV-curing varnish system developed specifically for the application of Braille dots. This technology allows applying the Braille letters as coating dots using a special nozzle applicator, which simplifies the production process while still complying with the respective standards.
