Product Description

One-component moisture-curing PUR hot melt adhesives have been established in the textile industry for many years.

The products are characterised by outstanding bonding properties and resistance against hydrolysis, high temperatures, and UV radiation. In general, these conventional PUR hot melt adhesives contain an excess of free monomer Isocyanate (usually 4-4’- Methylene diphenyl diisocyanate – in short MDI) of approx. 2 %. Since 2012, products containing isocyanate with an MDI (CAS  No. 101-68-8) content of 0.1 % or higher must be labelled with the GHS pictogram no. 8 (health hazard) and the relevant safety information (H and P statements). Depending on the concentration, isocyanates have an irritating effect on the skin, mucosa, eyes, and the respiratory system. MDI is necessary for the crosslinking reaction which determines the superior bonding characteristics.

Adhesives with an MDI content of less than 0.1 % are not subject to labelling requirements. Since the early 2000s, Jowat has already been working successfully on alternative Technologies with a content below that limit. The Jowatherm- Reaktant® MR (Monomer-Reduced) product group from Jowat supplies many PUR hot melt adhesives which are not subject to hazardous labelling requirements for a wide range of applications.

With Jowatherm-Reaktant® MR 642.90 Jowat has developed an all-purpose adhesive for the lamination of automotive interiors parts, which meets and supports all needs of a modern modular production. The adhesive can be processed in all common application methods, impresses especially with its spraying performance, and is particularly suitable for 3D laminating procedures in the automotive industry.
