The polyolefin-based hot melt adhesives of the Jowat-Toptherm® family permit reliable packaging processes even when feed speeds are high.
Cartons made of corrugated cardboard or paperboard - with printed, laminated, or lacquered surfaces - are used as secondary packaging for food and also for beverage packs. For closing this broad variety of cartons, hot melts must exhibit a wide adhesion spectrum to provide a reliable wetting of the diverse surface qualities, to ensure strong and durable bonds.
The new generation of polyolefin-based Jowat-Toptherm® adhesives also shows superior performance results when beverage cartons are closed in the section around the bottlenecks, where the closing flaps are joined under low back-pressure. The short open time facilitates fast buildup of strength. This enables the adhesive to offset high resilient forces which may be inherent in the carton blanks. And this permanently: whether in hot filling (up to 70 °C) or deep freezing (as low as -20 °C) - the material compound maintains its strength.
These members of the Jowat-Toptherm® family meet the regulations and recommendations for food contact of the EC 10/2011 and FDA guideline 175.105.
