Like in previous years, Jowat again set up several contact points at the 2019 trade shows – three booths at Ligna and one central booth at Interzum – to provide visitors with specific, specialised information on the different adhesive applications. The conclusion has been extremely positive. Visitors were very interested in the new product highlights presented at the trade shows and had many questions.
The adhesives specialist from Detmold took centre stage at Ligna with a comprehensive portfolio of monomer-reduced and therefore non-hazardous reactive polyurethane (PUR) hot melts for the wood and furniture industry from the Jowatherm-Reaktant® MR series, once more demonstrating the enterprise’s innovative capacity and competence in PUR technology. This full range of monomer-reduced hot melt adhesives also shows that for Jowat the standard in PUR technology will be defined by non-hazardous adhesives – in all relevant fields of application. The special highlight of the non-hazardous product series presented by Jowat at the trade fair was an unfilled edgebanding adhesive for superior applications, which facilitates colourless and virtually invisible bondlines. Reactive PUR hot melts were also in the spotlight at Interzum, with focus on the significant process and efficiency benefits compared to liquid adhesive systems in the manufacture of mattresses and upholstered furniture.
The new Jowapur® product family for load-bearing glulam also proved a major success. For the first time, the adhesives experts from Detmold presented an expanded portfolio of certified 1-component PUR prepolymer adhesives, with different product versions for a wide range of applications in the manufacturing of load-bearing glulam. The previously unachieved assembly-pressing time ratio of up to 1:1 and flexible assembly times between 10 and 60 minutes in particular sparked a lot of interest among customers with industrial manufacturing processes in which short cycle times and fast throughput speeds are essential.
The adhesives manufacturer from Detmold also celebrated another technological first at Ligna with established dispersion adhesives from the Jowacoll® series. Due to an optimised manufacturing process, Jowat was able to reduce the formaldehyde content in the Jowacoll® dispersions by up to 80 percent and at the same time maintain the good water and heat resistance of the adhesives. As a result, formaldehyde emissions from Jowat’s reactive D3 dispersions are now below the limits defined in different regulations and in some cases even close to the detection limit, and therefore support the production of low-emission products.
The entire Jowat product portfolio is coupled with the enterprise’s comprehensive service concerning all aspects of bonding. For 100 years, the Jowat brand has been renowned for its impressive product diversity, deep understanding of the industries as well as close customer contact – something that was again successfully demonstrated at the latest trade fairs.
