10 process. The high surface hardness (above 60 Shore D) allows finishing, provides durability and can be sanded. It can also be treated with the standard stains, lacquers and natural oils and waxes. The filling compound can be purchased in many basic colours approximating those of the various wood species. From light pine over medium brown walnut to dark brown Wenge – the colour range permits tints from tone-in-tone cosmetics to repairs with contrasts for the vintage look. Think differently. Adhesive is usually a matter for surface(s) – and this also sometimes comes up in a surprising way, just like we see it in this example: one-sided. As long-term partner of the industry of solid wood bonding and parquet assembly, Jowat welcomed this dialogue concerning finishing compounds. Devel- opment competence in the sector adhesives and well-founded applications competence for practical matters and processing converted this new project into a successful product. But it’s not only the parquet industry which makes it possible to think beyond the box. Examples are also found in the sector prefab housing, where the task is the spot repair of damages – which may be prompted by technical or optical necessity. Another example: Everyone is aware of the conventional casings or formwork panels. They are manufactured from softwood with bright yellow impregnation and a sealing edge made of galvanized steel. Concrete formwork panels are usually assembled under purely technical considerations and due to necessities in construction work. The casings for exposed concrete, however, have to meet additional standards. Perfect seamless and smooth surfaces can only be created by using formwork panels without knotholes. This is also where the special filling compounds from Jowat come in, they excel due to the high heat resistance provided by the polyolefin basis. The exothermic reaction leads to high temperatures when the concrete sets and as consequence requires products with adequate heat resistance levels, which usually only 2-component alternative systems provided. Above all when new trends lead to new challenges which then require new products, and when the market appears NEW TRENDS NEW CHALLENGES COMMITMENT FROM ALL SIDES A
