The modern machines are all-in-one systems, with integrated optical fault diagnostics, and with a melt and application system for the respective finishing com- pounds in a variety of colours. Parquet manufacturers profit, apart from the unchanging quality, especially from the high degree of automation. The processing characteristics and the performance capacity of the special adhesives applied by these machines – even on the sensitive floorboard edges – are clearly defined and highly demanding: They must be suitable later on to be sanded, stained and varnished. After all, the end customer who follows a purchasing trend will accept the visual appeal of a naturally grown defect, but also expects that the wear quality of his parquet flooring will not be impaired by this in any way at all. This is why after solidification of the bonding compound, no shrinkage may occur, the compound with the irregular surface of the defect must remain robust, easy-care and like new over many years. Parquetmanufacturersareliabletowards their distributors and end customers for this product promise. They profit, however, also from the rationalisation effects which develop in their production based on the engineering technology outlined. The finishing compound must also be efficient to process, otherwise theywouldunderminetheseadvantages. A challenge for application and bonding technology, which so far could not be entirely met by the systems already on the market. The solution. A total new bonding compound devel- oped by Jowat meets the challenges on applications technology and quality of the end product to 100 %. This one-component, thermoplastic hot melt adhesive based on polyolefin polymers (PO) allows efficient processing and ensures that the required downline processing characteristics are met. The special flow properties permit optimum and complete filling of the defect, the fast solidification without shrinkage ensures that the edge remains sharp, and immediate downline processing as well as stackability are given after the as a finishing component.
