Scheller: Agile is a type of management, how things are done in a business. To quote the economist and manage- ment guru Peter Drucker: “You have to do the right things right.” This is where Agile steps in: To know what the right thing is, we need to ask the customer. Only he can tell us what he needs and considers worth paying for. Therefore, we need him from the very beginning. Also, to do things right we have to improve constantly, reflect on what we are doing at the moment and how we can become better at it. For this, we need the creativity, the knowledge and the commitment of all employees. It is my belief that “People want to, just let them do it!” And this is what Agile does for me. Editor: Customers and employees are already being involved … Scheller: Well, most businesses are still looking to optimise their own requirements, like capacity utilisation, process- es, etc. and pay little attention to the customer. Far too few companies involve the customer right from the beginning, i.e. when ideas are formed. He does not get to see the first ideas before they even enter the prototype stage. However, this is what it is all about – learning fast from the customers’ feedback.
